The reason I am sending you this email is because I want to invite you to a Candlelight vigil I am organizing that will be held in remembrance of the rights that once were for 18,000 marriages, and in honor of the rights that one day will be again.

The Humboldt vigil will be held outside the Bayshore Mall on the public sidewalk on Broadway and we want to stress we are not protesting the Bayshore Mall, General Growth Properties or any of their merchants.

This will be a peaceful candlelight vigil in the spirit of the holidays. No protest signs will be allowed at the vigil or inside the Bayshore Mall after the event. Impact Humboldt & LUTN organizers have went through an small legal dispute with local mall management and GGP Corporate and JUSTICE & FREE SPEECH RIGHTS WON OUT and we been invited to wear our shirts inside the Bayshore Mall after the event. OR you can attend a Holiday Coffee Social and Book Shopping Party at Seattle’s Best Coffee inside the LGBT Friendly Borders Books. Please note while we are in the mall we are not to distribute any leaflets or brochures or disturb the family friendly shopping environment.

We will line the public side walk in front of the mall on Broadway (from the McDonald on the South side to Taco Bell on the North side) from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. At 6:00pm, we will all go inside to warm up at Nona’s Ice Cream or Seattle Best Coffee located inside Borders we call it a night everyone is then invited by Bayshore Mall to finish up any last minute holiday shopping.

John Stewart Has 1 of his 10 Conversations

John Stewart Has 1 of his 10 Conversations

10 Conversations could change the world. Over the next 10 months, JoinTheImpact will continue to encourage each and everyone of you to have 10 respectful and heartfelt conversations about equality. You won’t change the mind of every person out there, but you’ll touch the minds and hopefully hearts of all. Although Mike Huckabee didn’t have a miraculous realization and suddenly join in the cause of Equal Civil Marriage, he did at least join in the conversation. He listened to the other side; to our side. And, although his mind wasn’t changed, someone watching may have changed their mind. This is why OUR VISIBILITY is so important! If we continue to come out by the Hundreds of Thousands and then the MILLIONS Day after Day, Week after Week, and Month after Month… then this conversation will continue. If we sit back and hope that only a few people will keep this goihttp://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=611520578996384769ng, then we risk a huge loss. Our allies are out there ready to join at our sides and fight this fight. Let’s continue to give them a reason to talk about one simple dream: A Truly Equal America! JTI and dozens (if not hundreds) of other organizations are working together to keep our community visible. Please show this world how all of us can MAKE AN IMPACT! Join us on December 20th to Light up the Night for Equal Rights! We need organizers in many cities still (and JTI has an amazing support system to help you organize)! Let’s not let the holiday’s overshadow our visibility. This is our time! This is our movement! And this is OUR OPPORTUNITY to continue this AMAZING CONVERSATION OF EQUALITY!

JTI Tools of the Week

Posted by impacthumboldt on December 12, 2008

As we near closer to our next HUGE NATIONAL EVENT on December 20th, we want to continue keeping everyone informed about what they can do between now and then to continue the conversation of equality and continue forward movement for LGBTQ Civil Rights.

A few things came up this week that made me realize just what this movement means to everyone. As we continue to drive attention to LGBTQ rights, more and more people are getting on board and Joining in to make an Impact. The conversation of equality is seeping into households that ignored it in the past. 8% of Those who voted “Yes” on 8 say they would vote “No” if they had a second chance. Day Without a Gay brought national attention back to this conversation with news coverage on ABC, CNN, and other national networks. Those who oppose us are starting to speak louder and we can’t let our voices be drowned out by them. On November 15th, we rose together as one, and now we must remain standing tall as one strong voice! We need to understand that this movement will NOT be won overnight. It will take time. It will take tears. It is the beginning ONLY of the next round, not of our struggle. So between now and December 20th, continue on with the Food Drive and utilize the following tools to help keep our visibility at a level this nation has never before seen!

The New York Times put out an amazing article on behalf of Same-Sex Civil Marriage. The Times has now seen a surge of angry letters from those that oppose our call for equal rights. Please join the HRC in letting the Times know that we support them and help to ensure our voices are not drowned out by others.

GayWallet.com, is a great website for the conscious LGBTQ consumer. Join them in the December 23rd, Gay Dollar Day Campaign in which we show how supportive our dollars can be and just how much we impact our economy.

It’s time we take our visibility to the next level. Join us in putting positive LGBTQ imagery EVERYWHERE. Let’s start by creating videos to raise awareness about our struggle, our lost rights, and the rights that 1 in 10 US citizens have never had. Create a video today that begins with one sentence: I Joined the Impact Because… Post this to YouTube and TheImpact and we’ll keep spreading the visibility of our movement and community!

Are you a Washington citizen? Join Equal Rights Washington in their One Minute For Marriage Campaign.

This is YOUR IMPACT. Join the Impact is your movement and your voice! Help us continue making an impact on this nation and the world! Join us on December 20th to Light Up the Night for Equal Rights and show this nation who we are!
